Who Am I?
I’m LaTasha. Sometimes “Star,” “Tasha” or “Queen.” But always a creator, advancer, romance novel reader, and your around-the-way girl bringing fun, laughs, and good times to the Queendom.
What is Crowned?
It's a Saturday evening. I'm in church; not my church, but a church. I'm with a group of women at a "girlfriends" conference listening to one of the most inspirational women I have ever heard from in my life. I've actually been listening to inspirational women speak all day. What brought me here? A desire for clarity and a probing question in my heart: what is my purpose?
I believe I was born for greatness. I know everyone says that but, I really believe it. No matter how many mistakes I make, God always gets me right back on track - Yes, I said GOD - and it's an important note because, if it had not been for God, I would not have been in this church, at this very moment, looking for answers… at an altar call.
And it hit me. Rather… it spoke to me… "heavy is head that wears the crown."
My entire life has been filled with triumphant celebrations and devastating tragedies, and through it all, I have managed to overcome obstacle after obstacle while building a life I am very proud of. I am a Black-American woman, professional, educator, wife, mother, sister, daughter, mentor, mentee, queen, and being in total control of herself. My core values are Love & Loyalty, Integrity, Hard Work, and Going Above and Beyond. I have broken generational curses, accomplished the un-thinkable, and continue to move into spaces I never dreamed I would be.
It is NOT easy. In fact, it's pretty freakin' difficult. I have had to learn how to take care of myself in a way that allows me to do all the things I'm destined to do and maintain a stable home life and self care. The void I was feeling in the church that day had a lot to do with God telling me to share my journey and share the wealth of knowledge I've gained over the years.
As a result, I am building a cathedral; and that cathedral is CROWNED. It is true- heavy is the head that wears the crown. I believe God has given us so many tools to be our best selves while taking care of ourselves- some of those tools I am discovering daily. The purpose of CROWNED is to chronicle my learnings #ontheblog or #onthepod, share tips and tricks in self care and self management, highlight what is means to be QUEEN of the household and QUEEN of the boardroom, and to feature other QUEENS (and KINGS) doing it right. I hope you enjoy this journey with me.
